Perth Beer Festival
The 6th Annual Perth Beer Festival is being held at Perth’s North Inch on 7th May 2016 from midday. The concept is brought together by Perthshire Rugby and is being sponsored once again by Tan International Ltd, a local business with close ties to Perthshire Rugby. Encouraged by the enormous success of our inaugural event in 2011 and the fantastic reports from all who attended, we continue to develop this event year on year.
Once again, Perthshire Rugby’s 7’s tournament is part of the Legacy 7’s circuit which last year saw an increase in the number of teams participating and show-cased some spectacular rugby skills. Maybe not quite as spectacular, but Perthshire Rugby are also holding their own Golden Oldies (35+) tournament which is sure to be entertaining and also well worth a watch.
The beer pumps themselves will be in action from noon. You will be met with a friendly smile and great bar staff assisting with your every need. A monumental selection of beers from around the country will be offered, so there will certainly be something to tickle your taste buds. A selection of fine wines and bar are also offered, so without a doubt there will be something for everyone. This year, we are delighted to announce that Big Vern & The Shootahs will be topping the bill at the night function with their track record for fantastic entertainment.
The community development team will have a kid zone set up to give some their first taste of rugby or to test the most advanced of players. The participation in short fun games will also keep enthusiasm going throughout the course of the day. After the beer and wines have been sampled and the kids have been tired out, what could be better than to grab a lovely locally produced delicious burger from the simmering BBQ or a piece of delicious hog roast? The refreshment stall will be staffed all day to cater for all levels of hunger.
We note that due to the nature of the event we cannot guarantee that all varieties of beer will be available throughout the duration of the Festival, as they are there to be drunk, and when they are gone they are gone!
The day is sure to be a great event with something for everyone. So why not come down and enjoy a beer or glass of wine? If you bring the kids they can run off some steam. Have a nice bite to eat and catch up with and make some new friends. Best of all you will be supporting a great club and programme by simply doing this. Sounds too good to be true?
Perthshire Rugby & Community Rugby Development Programme
The“Try Rugby” community programme is run by the Perthshire Community Rugby Trust with support from Perthshire Rugby, Perth & Kinross Leisure, The Gannochy Trust & the SRU.
The Trust employs two full time development officers and two Modern Apprentice students, who deliver rugby to schools throughout Perthshire. Now in its 14th year the Community Rugby Programme is offering every boy and girl the chance to try rugby. As the programme flourishes so unfortunately do the running costs.
The volunteers of Perthshire Rugby work hard at keeping up with the ever increasing cost of promoting and playing rugby. Fundraising events like the Beer Festival are vital to the continuation of the Club and the community programme. We thank everyone involved for their support and are especially proud of the way the Rugby Club and the Try Rugby Programme is reaching out to so many in the local community.
With music, rugby, games and a monumental selection of beer, the sixth annual Perth Beer Festival on May 7th is guaranteed to be another hop-ping event.
